Latency is measured to this site's edge. Same host may show similar ping; pick the region you want to report against.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Our speed test measures your actual connection speed to the nearest server with high precision. For the most accurate results:

    • Close VPN connections before testing
    • Pause any active downloads or streaming
    • Use a wired ethernet connection instead of WiFi when possible
    • Close other browser tabs and applications

The ideal speed depends on how you use the internet:

    • Basic browsing & email: 5-10 Mbps
    • HD video streaming: 25 Mbps
    • 4K Ultra HD streaming: 50+ Mbps
    • Online gaming: 25+ Mbps with ping under 50ms
    • Video conferencing: 10+ Mbps upload and download
    • Working from home: 25-50 Mbps
    • Large household (5+ devices): 100+ Mbps

Ping (latency) measures how long data takes to travel to a server and back, in milliseconds (ms). Lower = faster response.

    • 0-20ms: Excellent — ideal for competitive gaming
    • 20-50ms: Good — great for most activities
    • 50-100ms: Average — acceptable for casual use
    • 100-150ms: Poor — noticeable lag
    • 150ms+: Bad — significant delays

Jitter measures variation in ping times. High jitter causes:

    • Choppy video calls
    • Audio cutting in and out
    • Lag spikes in games

    Ideal jitter is under 30ms.

Packet loss is when data fails to arrive. Even 1-2% causes buffering, disconnections, and frozen calls. Ideal is 0%.

Several factors affect your actual speed:

    • WiFi vs wired: WiFi is slower due to interference
    • Distance from router: Signal weakens with distance
    • Network congestion: Peak hours have slower speeds
    • VPN usage: Adds encryption overhead
    • Device limitations: Older devices may cap speeds
    • Background usage: Other devices using bandwidth
